For 18 years, Moren Ravenheart has grown up as the sole heiress of her noble family in the port city of Damali on the Menagerie Coast. Her parents see her only as a bargaining chip to amass wealth and political influence through marriage. But Moren dreams of escaping the cutthroat politics of her family and city to travel the world as a hero. With the help of her maid and caregiver, Mika, she begins to stockpile supplies and funds for her escape.
In a world transitioning from the magical age to the age of steam and technology, Moren’s chance comes after attending a party hosted by the Marquis. She learns that her parents plan to sign a marriage contract forcing her to marry the city leader. Desperate, Moren prays to the Gods for help. An Archfey, a magical being, materializes before her and offers extraordinary abilities to aid her escape in exchange for a favor in the city of Whitestone within a year. Moren accepts the deal and flees on an airship to start her new life as an adventurer on the continent of Tal’Dorei.
Her journey eventually leads her to Whitestone, where she meets a female barbarian pit fighter named Reza Quickfoot and several other allies. Deciding to leave the caravan, Moren sets down roots in Whitestone, making connections and doing odd jobs to survive. However, she stumbles upon a group of traffickers abducting people for nefarious purposes. Now, with her newfound abilities and allies, Moren must confront this dark threat and embrace her destiny as a hero.
